Make Money Online with Trust

TrustIf you want to make money online, trust is a very important element. This is more so because most times you never get to meet your clients or prospects in person. People patronize those they can trust and rely on, for answers to their questions and solutions to their problems.

For example, if you are working on a financial goal, you enlist the advice of a qualified professional (such as a financial planner, banker, accountant or attorney) whom you trust. If you are working on a health goal, you check with your trusted health care professional or follow guidelines presented by a trusted resource (like a medical journal or nutrition expert). When working on a personal or social goal, you surround yourself with trusted advisors, including family, friends, personal coaches or mentors.

To help accelerate your success, you need to surround yourself with trustworthy people.  If you think about it, we all have individuals in our personal and professional lives that we’d include in our “Circle of Trust.” These are people one can count on and trust that they will take care of one’s interests .

Take a minute to list what would make a person fall outside your Circle of Trust. If you know a person who is a repeat offender, let that person go. It is imperative to remove insincere people from your lives. They will cost YOU emotionally and/or financially. Not only that, they will prevent you from accomplishing your goals. Say goodbye to them and surround yourself instead with people whom you can trust to help you achieve your life goals.

However, making money online or accomplishing everything you’ve set out to achieve in life isn’t just about trusting others. You also need to be viewed as trustworthy in order to accomplish your goals. Why? Simply because NO ONE will do business with you if they don’t trust YOU. One of the easiest ways you can develop trust is to make sure you always have a clock running in your head.  For instance, one of the best ways to ensure trust is to deliver as promised and on time.

It doesn’t matter your line of business; whether you’re a freelance writer working on an article, an online book seller or an employee working to meet a project deadline. Being on time every time is a surefire way to build trust between you and your clients and/or your employer.

Delivering on time can be accomplished with practice and scheduling. Think about how FedEx and United Parcel Service have prospered because consumers trust that their documents or parcels will be delivered within a promised time frame; regardless of equipment breakdowns, bad weather that grounds planes, and other situations. If they constantly sent packages late, they wouldn’t have any customers!

Being on time isn’t only about ability to deliver a report or a package on time. You should strive to be on time for every meeting you attend! If you believe arriving late or that being prepared doesn’t matter – think again! Being late sets in motion negative results and can affect everyone’s goals.  Being punctual sets in motion more opportunities for success for you. Being trustworthy IS an important element of making money online and your goal path. Focus your efforts to develop this valuable trait starting TODAY.

Social Media and Boko Haram!

Hello,

Just a quick post to ask for your contribution on a topical national issue.

I was at Superscreen TV Studio on Wednesday 1st August (I had to take the staircase to the ninth floor, phew!)  and the discussion was about security issues in Nigeria with emphasis on how digital literacy could be part of the solution. On the surface, some people would think there is no connect.

However before  the discussion ended, we had people calling into the program and expressing strong hope that digital literacy would be a great help in the right direction. One caller actually asked that I champion advocacy that will get the government to start warming up to the Nigerian populace through social media.

Does digital literacy have a place in the fight against insecurity in Nigeria? What do you think? Please leave your comment below; I value your opinion and you might just be helping Nigeria get out of the woods.

To your greatness!

Social Media Marketing and Your Site

Hello,

Social Media MarketingHonestly, the importance and relevance of a WordPress blog site to your marketing success cannot be over-emphasized.

Earlier on this blog, I sent a simple guide (see it here)  on how to personally install your own wordpress site; very easy and straight forward. However, there have been a lot of changes in WordPress. You see, the internet is an ever changing medium and good businesses keep up with the changes. I am, therefore, posting an updated step-by-step guide to setting up your own blog. I know, by the testimonies of those who have used this guide before, that you will find it very easy and interesting to install. Let's go!

  • Click on the ‘Get started here’ button.  Pick a username and put in your correct email address because that is where they are going to send your password, so make sure you make no mistake. If the username or email address you provide has been picked before, you will be prompted to give another one; you have to pick something no one has used before.
  • Scroll down the page and you will see a promo asking you to upgrade WordPress.  At the end of the promo, there are two orange buttons. Of course, at this stage you should not be buying anything.
  • Click the ‘Create a blog’ button. NOTE that you cannot use signs or symbols in your username; you can only use letters and numbers. If you use signs or symbols, the username will not be accepted and you will have to go back and pick another one.
  • On the next page, you will see a message asking you to ‘Check Your E-mail to Complete Registration’.
  • An email would have been sent into your email address which you supplied. Open your email and click on the activation link ‘ACTIVATE BLOG’. Immediately you activate your account, you will be directed to a page where you will see different beautiful wordpress themes. Pick anyone you like or better still; one that corresponds to your type of business.
  • Click on any theme (template) you want to use and press the ‘Choose This Theme’ Button. On the next page, you will see a row of buttons on the Menu Bar and if you hover your mouse on anyone of them, it will tell you what the button does.
  • Click on ‘My Blog’ to access your Dashboard. On the next page, click on ‘Dashboard’ and start working on your settings and features! You will even find a welcome video that will show you a few things about the Dashboard. WordPress is interactive, so find your way around!
  • To the left of your Dashboard, there are some buttons you will be using regularly. Start with  ‘Users’. Go to ‘Your Profile’ and fill in your information. Scroll down to where it says ‘About Yourself’ and write a few words about yourself, what you do etc. Make sure you change your password to something you can remember and click ‘Update Profile’.  Next time you log in, you will of course have to use your new password.

So, that’s it folks, very simple and straight forward. Set up your own wordpress blog and let's do some social media marketing. If you have any difficulty going further, please let me know and I shall gladly show you how to complete the settings on your blog.  But as it is, you have a good blog set up already.  All the best!

Social Media Marketing and Pinterest

I am quite excited to tell you about a new social network called Pinterest.  Pinterest is a leader in driving web traffic. It generates more traffic to websites than Google+, MySpace, Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn. Millions are using Pinterest as a reliable search engine. It is listed on Hitwise as one of top ten (10) social networks; sitting on No. 5 and beating out some big names like Google+, LinkedIn etc.

Businesses who have a presence on Pinterest gain web traffic in two ways. First, Pinterest helps optimize your name in web searches. When someone searches the web your Pinterest page is one of the top results (behind your website, Google Places and Facebook pages). Second, visually interesting photographs of your products and services can be easily shared and viewed by thousands of people that click the picture and are taken directly to your website.

I have written an ebook for you to guide you on how to use Pinterest in successfully marketing your business on Pinterest. Download it now and start attracting quality traffic to your business.

Pinterest is currently invite-only; you need to be invited. That means you cannot just go to Pinterest homepage to register. You can either request an invite from Pinterest and have to wait for them to approve your application (it is not specified how long you have to wait) or you can be invited by someone who is already a part of Pinterest.  As my friend, if you want to be registered immediately, send me an email at olakitanwellington@yahoo.com and I will invite you. That way you can be on Pinterest immediately. Meanwhile, download your Free Pinterest Guide here Now and start marketing your business

7 Steps to Building Valuable Connections for Your Business

Hello!

A lot of emphasis has been placed on Networking as a means of growing your business.  However, I read this article by MaryEllen Tribby and want to share it with you below.  Please leave your comments and opinions after reading. I wish you insightful reading!

Most business owners and professionals know that developing key relationships and partnerships within their community plays a pivotal role in their success and their business' success.  This is probably why, today, so many people are turning to networking as a means to making new connections.

People consider networking an important step to gaining success.  But, I disagree.  In fact, I've started to wonder if networking really gains you any success in terms of business.  Setting out to gain a contact, or merely to get a new business card, seems pointless to me.  And, making a contact only to see how they can serve me seems cold and sterile.

When I meet a new contact for my business, my goal is not to put their information in my address book, it's not to see what they can do for me, and it's not even to network with them.  It's to make a real connection.

I want to find out who this person truly is and what their business is truly about. I want to find out if our goals and missions are somehow synergetic and if a partnership could actually bring each of us more success.

Making a real connection is not about what can they do for me…it's about how can we both serve each other best.  It's about whether each of our purposes align and how can we assist each other's communities in the long term. It's from this place that I have found real deals and partnerships occur.

However, very often, people allow opportunities for valuable partnerships to pass them up.  Many people feel intimidated to put themselves out there and hesitate when the right situation comes up.  Unfortunately, this discomfort can come across as disinterest rather than fear.  And, the very people whom these people meant to connect with may feel the only interest lies in what they can provide rather how they can partner together.

Pushing through these feelings of discomfort is essential in building successful connections. Sure it is uncomfortable, but the money lost will have a much more permanent affect in the long run. Don't let any opportunity pass you by.  Eliminate nervousness or intimidation by putting the attention toward the person with whom you want to connect.   Ask questions and follow-up.  Eventually, connecting will become second-nature and will naturally occur with everyone you meet.

Another important factor is in the quality of the connections you make. You may know lots of people. But, if these acquaintances are not creating results for your business then there is no monetary value in their connection to you.   Are your business connections people who you can call on when you need someone to introduce you to a new market or the big players in that market? If not, it may be time to re-evaluate your process for establishing new connections.

Making key connections means having real relationships with influential people whom you can call on for help and that you serve some purpose to in return, as well.

Not this kind of "I'll call you when I need something" relationship.  This will never work.

For example, let's say you have the contact information for the CEO at Big Brand Manufacturing.  But, you have not spoken to him since you met him at a luncheon a year ago.  This person is of no value to you and your business. If you want to start a new business venture and need some promotional items made, it is doubtful this person will give you the big "friend-discount" you might want.

Not only must you create a genuine partnership with them, but for your contacts to be of any value to your business, you must learn to be of value to theirs.
